An online editor job opening may be available with an IT/ITES company, online marketing firm, broadcasting or telecom company where the write ups are to be delivered to clients or individuals online. An online editor is typically responsible for editing the work performed by other writers. Specific duties of an online editor include analyzing the articles or write-ups for grammatical or conceptual errors, putting appropriate punctuation marks, adding or removing controversial sentences or paragraphs as required, making best use of Microsoft word and other tools, checking the articles for flaws, and getting the articles approved by the chief editor. An online editor typically reports to the chief editor.An online editor should have an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in journalism or mass communications. Excellent academic credentials are required. Excellent writing skills are essential for any online editor role.
